Welcome to the Under 11s at Aldwinians RUFC

The Under 11s team is made up of children who are 10 years old (Year 6 at school) as of 1st September. At this age, players build on their experience of contact rugby, learning more advanced skills and beginning to play a version of the game that looks even closer to the full sport.

Training and Matches

The Under 11s train and play at Aldwinians RUFC with:

Friday evening training sessions
Sunday mornings, which include training and matches against other local clubs

After Sunday sessions, the team continues our great Aldwinians tradition of enjoying lunch together, included in the weekly subs. This helps players and families bond and strengthens the team spirit that rugby is all about.

Developing Skills at U11s

At this stage, the game introduces more rugby techniques, including elements of the ruck and maul, as well as greater emphasis on teamwork, game awareness, and resilience. Players are encouraged to challenge themselves in a supportive, safe environment where having fun is always the priority.

To take part, players will need:

A gum shield (essential for all contact rugby)
Rugby boots with studs
Optional body armour
A responsible adult present or a nominated parent to supervise

Rugby at this age is exciting, physical, and rewarding – and while bumps and bruises happen, the focus remains on safety, teamwork, and enjoyment.

Kit and Club Pride

All Under 11 players receive a club match shirt. Families can also purchase additional Aldwinians kit such as shorts, socks, hoodies and more, helping players look and feel part of the team every step of the way.
